HI, Troopers.
I served as the first VN linguist with the 409th (66-67) and, from a from a TDY mission with a Vietnamese Special Forces camp, brought back their Commandant's gift to me - Homer the Goat!
Elaine Cochrane Murphy, widow to our beloved Lt. Cochrane who was KIA in country, is writing a second book, and she would like to hear from those who served with him (66-67, when we first became the 409th). Please contact her.
Elaine's e-mail is: elaines999@adelphia.net.
You can still reach me at:
johndefresno@comcast.net; I still live in Central California.
I am retiring from police work this year, and I'm a Grandpa for the first time. I hope the photo attachment worked. It was taken in September 2008 at the hospital with the newborn, Caden Boehm. He's extremely handsome (looks like me).
Best wishes, and - Allons!

To whom it may concern,
I am the youngest of two daughters of Captain Greg Whitehouse and I understand that some of the 409th RRD troops served with my father when he was killed, he was riding along as an intelligence observer and they hit a land mine March 6, 1968, he was to come home for his birthday March 7 and never returned. We were in Paris France just prior to him leaving for Vietnam and we understand that he wore a 3 piece suit instead of uniform while we were there. We have only been able to locate one Officer that was actually there and he had a picture of my dad with a little Vietnamese girl. We are unable to have his military file opened due to various reasons unknown to us. Please, if you knew my father you can email me at the above email address.
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AND ALL THAT YOU DID FOR OUR COUNTRY.

My father was/is part of this regiment. He sent me the link to see a little it I never heard him talk about. It is good to see people taking the time to glorify his regiment and what was done. You should all be proud of your contribution just as I am proud of him.

Great site. I was an 05G with 409th from 9-67 to 12-67. Then got sent to the 265th RRC, 101st Airborne. Pretty exciting with 101st. Woundup with a secondary MOS of 11Bravo and earned a CIB. Somewhat unusual for ASA.

I served two tours in Viet Nam as an ASA trooper. The 1st was with the 175th RR C. from Nov 1968 to Nov 1969. The second was with the 409th RRD from July 1969 to July 1970. At the 409th I was assigned to the supply section. I mainly worked with Bill Yost. I do not remember the name of the supply sgt we had when I first got there in 69. We were still at Xuan Loc. Interesting times.

It is: vburget@gmail.com
I was privileged to serve with the 409th from August 1966 to April 1967.
My OIC was Lt. Kmeciak and among others, worked with Enrique Flores (Charley Brown).
Would like to hear from others who where in country the same time.

Served with the 409th from June 1967 to November 1967, then transferred to the 337th RR, November 67 to November 1968. Great site. It was good to see Manny Bess and Homer again!
